The Influence of Care givers` Emotional Labor on Happiness in the Long term care Facility - the Mediating Effect of Self Soothing Ability-

Abstract
This study was designed to explore the influence of Emotional Labor and the mediating effect of Self Soothing Ability on the Happiness in their working place, to suggest institutionally protection for care givers. Methods: Data was collected by questionaries from 377 care givers who work in the long term care facilities. Results: The results of this research were summarized as follows: First, Emotional Labor was related significantly in negative correlation with Self Soothing Ability and Happiness. Second, there was a difference between workers of nursing home and home service. The workers in nursing home were related more significantly in negative correlation with Happiness than home service workers. Third, as a result of verifying the mediating effect of Self Soothing Ability between Emotional Labor and Happiness at work, the effect was shown as a partial mediating effect on workers of home service. However, it was shown as a complete mediating effect on workers in nursing home. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that Emotional Labor of Care givers has to be managed for their happiness at work. Therefore, the Government must realize that care givers` Emotional Labor is no longer an individuals. but it should be treated as a critical aspect of the human resources management.
